AV Concepts Takes On the Fit Company Challenge

Over the weekend AV Concepts employees from our Tempe, AZ office took on the Fit Company challenge at Hohokam Stadium. Four AV Concepts’ teams participated in three different courses, bringing employees of all fitness levels together to represent the company, and compete against local Phoenix businesses.

The Fit Company challenge included rigorous courses that were completed in relay teams. The first course, the Board Room, tested participants with more traditional exercises like push-ups, kettlebell swings, sit-ups, burpees, planks and more. The Corporate Ladder, the second course, focused on agility, body conditioning and speed through a series of relays. And the last course, Overtime, was all endurance with a 1.5 – 3 mile run/walk.

“At the end of the day, it’s not really about winning,” explained Lisa Repp, HR Supervisor at AV Concepts. “It’s about building camaraderie between team members in different departments who don’t normally get a chance to work together, and encouraging our employees to live healthier more active lifestyles.”

AV Concepts placed first in our division for medium sized companies. But most importantly, our employees had a great time competing, and walked away with a stronger sense of comradery and appreciation for their team members. Here’s what some of our employees had to say about the experience:

“The Fit Company challenge was a great team building exercise,” said Rozalin Alvarez, Project Manager Assistant at AV Concepts. “Plus, it was a great start to focusing on a healthier lifestyle. It was challenging at times, but remembering how far I’d come made me want to push harder, and maybe even compete in other events.”

“I loved seeing my colleagues push through challenging exercises,” added Shelby Teal, Administrative Assistant at AV Concepts. “I was so proud of each and every one my team mates, and was excited to be there cheering them on.”

“I like the idea of true teamwork, and the Fit Company challenge was a great way to train and participate with my fellow co-workers in a team setting,” explained Benjamin Heiligman, Accounts Receivable Coordinator at AV Concepts. “Having the Fit challenge on the calendar forced me to exercise more to prepare for this event, which is why I hope we sign up for next year so that I can keep this fit train rolling into 2016!”
