AV Concepts Creates an Epic Show for Chris Brown’s AMA Performance
Los Angeles, Calif (November 20, 2011) At the 2011 American Music Awards, Chris Brown’s performance transformed from raw and emotional into a high-energy multi-dimensional experience that has been noted as an “Electrifying” (Celebrity-Gossip) and “dance-tastic” performance (MTV News). After an initial meeting with Chris Brown and his team, AV Concepts worked on the creative concept with Rich & Tone Productions conceptualizing visuals to be projected and mapped precisely to Chris’s performance. Using 72,000 lumens of projection, Chris was surrounded with a visual canvas and traditional stage spotlighting was replaced with digital projection. AV Concepts utilized their highly sophisticated Liquid Scenic server for mapping and playback. The entire setup rolled out in five minutes onto the American Music Awards stage during a commercial break just before Chris performed. In addition to the special projectable floor that Chris danced on, there were overhead cameras that were placed above the stage to capture the performance from multiple positions. Though undetectable by the audience, there were both real-life and virtual backup dancers simultaneously on stage.
